Algebra
The accelerated math program is a program that allows students to do math at their own pace and so they can stick to their understanding rather than staying at one same level as the whole class. This can help the students who struggle or excel at math so they won't have to have trouble with the current math they have. So I have been working on my own accelerated math for the first semester. It pushes me to do well in my math work keeping me up in all my work. I continue to excel in my work and am currently in the 100's objectives.

Semester 1 Math Reflection
My math experience has been very smooth sailing so far. Since I have learned great from all my math teacher, past and present, it has been really easy for me to understand most objectives. I can easily complete 60 problems of accelerated math a week because I consistently get my math done. I usually get as much math as I can done in class for the time given to me in the period. Usually I complete 1-2 math practices in class depending on the amount of problems or the difficulty level. Then I sometimes come in during lunch for a workspace to get help on any question from Dawn or if I just want to complete my work. I then complete the remaining amount of work after school. That is my strategy of how I am able to complete 60 math problems. So far I have master 88 objectives that I could check off on my "I Can" sheet. I really believe I have pushed myself very hard this semester. I am currently the highest objective in both classes on my team and maintain a really good grade in my class. Even when I make mistakes, I consistently make revisions right after I get my results before I move on the next objectives. That way I know I am able to move on because I have mastered all past objectives. I am very proud of all my work in this math semester. There has rarely been ever any work that I have completely failed on yet. Although there has been some highlights within my work that I would like to share. Something I struggled with but learned is objective 36. I felt very proud of it because even with all the mistakes I still managed to finally understand it and have an AHA! moment on it. It felt really nice having an AHA! moment because it takes a lot of stress off your shoulder knowing you won't have to worry about not knowing have to do the problems in the future. I struggled with it because I did not know how the graphs wok and what a nonlinear function is but now I know because I just had to look at the problem a different way thanks to the help of Dawn. This was a highlight because it showed how I grew over the semester. Semester 2 Math Reflection
This semester we have still been working on accelerated math. So far I have been excelling in my accelerated math and I am currently within the 200 objectives. Although it has been getting harder I still try to do my best to complete the required amount of math each week. My math experience has been very great. I have been getting very far in my math and it makes me proud to say I am the farthest in my class. Because of this however, I cannot get any help from any other classmate so I tend to struggle with getting my math done. Although I struggle I tend to get the required amount because I constantly ask Dawn for help. I also stay in during lunch or afterschool to make sure I understand the concept and complete as many problems as I can. My goals for 10th grade is to try to keep the same grade I got throughout freshman year because I learned this year I am a very successful math student. There are three objectives that I think I would be able to teach other students. The first objective is the objective with a number line and shading it in, I could teach this because I have a good strategy in solving these problems, less th(and) and great(or). The second objective is teaching the quadratic formula because I know the formula by heart which is -b+or-(SQRTb^2-4ac/2a)(I know it's messy look it up). The last one is factoring binomials because I learned a lot from that certain objective and learned how to solve most of the equations with ease. The work that I am most proud of was definitely the factoring binomials. The reason behind this is because I felt like this objective was one of the most practiced this semester and because of that I was able to understand all of the factoring binomial questions on the STAR test. I had many problems learning this objective but in the end I ended up having a lot of AHA moments about it. I came to a lot of the Aha moments when tutored by Dawn because she helped me understand the many problems that I consistently had troubles on. But thanks to her I learned a lot. |
